The KawaCure Story
KawaCure Balm came about because we have young nieces (the cuties on the left) who were born with sensitive skin and are prone to rashes and other skin irritations. Conventional medicine and creams simply did not work for them so I sought help from my colleagues in our local Māori healing collective on the best traditional solution as we sometimes use rongoā (Māori medicine) in our work. The answer agreed upon by all was Kawakawa (Macropiper Excelsum) so we set to work on best way to harness this well-known healing plant.
Given the sensitivity of our nieces’ skin we wanted to use ingredients that were all natural and would complement the medicinal qualities of the Kawakawa without adding any unnecessary extras. We were mindful that so many of the creams and balms for sensitive skin on the market today are full of chemicals so we deliberately resisted the temptation to add colour, fragrance or other substances that are simply not required. As a result our balm only has 4 ingredients - Kawakawa Leaf Extract, Olive Oil, Natural Beeswax, and the magic ingredient, Aroha (Love).
The results from our KawaCure Balm were so good that before long friends and family were requesting jars of their own. We decided that we needed to make this awesome balm more widely available, which is how KawaCure Traditional Māori Kawakawa Balm was born. We are continuing to add new products to our range as we develop them.
